Accidents happen. One of those accidents is that a window in your house can get broken. Pick Up the Glass
Before you do anything, you need to make sure that everyone is going to be safe. The best way to do that is to pick up all the glass and remove the glass from the window. Put on gloves before you handle the broken glass. You don't want to put the shards straight into a trash bag either. If you have a cardboard box of some sort, you should put the pieces in there. So, pick up all the pieces, and then gently start pulling on the pieces in the window so that they come out. When you have everything picked up and removed, you might want to run a damp cloth, paper towel, or damp newspaper over the area to pick up all the last little bits of glass.
Cover the Window
Unless you were already wanting to have the windows open so that you can catch a breeze, you want to cover up the window. That won't completely get rid of any breezes, but it will keep the worst of the cool or the heat out of your house. There are several things that you can use to cover up your windows, depending on how quickly you are going to be able to get a repair person out to your house, what the weather is like, and whether you have any kids or pets that are going to try to escape out the window. You can try using cardboard and duct tape, and tape over the area, or you can go to the hardware store and pick up a piece of plywood and some nails.
